Hey Ed,
Just wanted to let you know that the Falchion Valley link on the front page of ci-data isn't working. (Latest Developments section, where it says "We now have our own admin site, Falchion Valley!"). The link has an extra character at the end, a "|" bar. If you take it out, the link should be fixed.
Also, take out the crossed-out script in "we want you to be a worthless pawn contributor!" Like I've said before, there are some things that shouldn't be joked about. In this case, the "joke" is only funny if you're an experienced site member or staff, which none of the new people reading the front page will be. Something like that on a front page will alienate newer people passing by, and you don't want that if you're trying to attract people to join.
So to put the issue into a nutshell:
1. I fixed the link to Falchion Valley.
2. I got rid of this line shown below:
we want you to be a worthless pawn contributor!
Frankly I felt uneasy about this line as well. Initially it made me laugh but I have a peculiar sense of humor so yeah. After reading it over, It does seem demeaning to some people who look at our site. So I removed it.
